Greece confirmed 16,023 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, with 48 of these identified at entry points to the country, the National Public Health Organization (EODY) said on Saturday. In addition, 479 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours.
Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 2,036,869 infections. In the confirmed cases of the last seven days, 388 infections are related to travel from abroad and 2,728 to other community cases.
Sadly, 72 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total of pandemic victims to 23,999. Of these, 95.1 per cent had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or over.
A total of 567 patients are on ventilators in hospitals, while another 4,083 have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began, according to ANA-MPA.
