Melbourne entrepreneur and multicultural advocate Effie Cinanni has been selected to participate in the 2022 Community leaders’ program, and specifically in the Multicultural Communities Leadership in Action Program in 2022.
The Greek Australian Founder and Director of Small Chilli Marketing has already been active in promoting talent and celebrating the achievements of remarkable entrepreneurship within the Multicultural community, when she co-founded the Northern Multicultural Small Business Awards a few years ago.
The aim of the Multicultural Communities Leadership in Action Program in 2022 which she is now part of, is to build the capability of multicultural and multifaith leaders to engage effectively with government, in order for them to become influential community advocates that will help mobilise and educate their communities.
Ms Cinanni was selected for the women’s stream of the program and will participate in the program from February through to May 2022.
On receiving the news of her participation on Monday, Ms Cinanni says that she feels extremely honoured and privileged.
“I didn’t expect to be selected among so many applicants to help serve my community in this way, but I am delighted to be given this opportunity,” explains Ms Cinanni.
“I am really looking forward to building my skills and strengthening my community engagement capability in order to be able to do more for the Greek community and other multicultural communities here in Victoria.”
She adds that her particular interest will be to inspire more Greek-Australian women and today’s generation of girls to become tomorrow’s business and community leaders.
“In the past, I have worked across several Greek language schools in Victoria teaching traditional Greek folk dance and working with our youth. Now my business skills can also be leveraged to help young women within my community.”
The Victorian Multicultural Commission is the main link between communities and the government, developing partnerships to improve settlement support services and helping diverse communities to access government services.
