The Victorian government announced the appointment of County Court Judge Andrea Tsalamandris as a Judge of the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
The Victorian Attorney-General Jaclyn Symes said Justice Tsalamandris served as a Judge in the County Court for the past six years and was recently head of the Common Law Division. She was joint judge in charge of the Medical list and judge responsible for the approval of client cost orders. She is also a member of the management board, chair of the IT committee and deputy president of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
Justice Tsalamandris began her law career as a solicitor at Holding Redlich and Adviceline Injury Lawyers in 1994 and was appointed Senior Associate in 1997 and was made a partner in 2002. She was an accredited specialist in personal injury law and was named Lawyer of the Year in the area of personal injury litigation and medical negligence for Melbourne between 2014 and 2016.

She also received the Civil Justice Award from Australian Plaintiff Lawyers Alliance and the Law Foundation Award for her role as a committed social justice advocate when she acted on a pro-bono basis on the Stolen Generations litigation.
She holds Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from Monash University and is an Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury Law by the Law Institute of Australia.
She fills the vacancy created following the appointment as Judge to the Court of Appeal of Justice Cameron Macaulay.
The Attorney General also announced the appointment of a Judge Meryl Sexton as the first ever Deputy Chief Judge of the County Court in Victoria. The role will allow the Deputy Chief Judge to act as Chief Judge during periods of absence.
