Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, has taken to social media to accuse his Greek counterpart, Nikos Dendias for defamation and spreading ‘nonsense’.
The Twitter post comes after Mr Dendias made a comment alluding that Turkey is taking advantage for the turmoil between Russia and Ukraine to promote its own agenda.
“While the world is focused on the tragedy unfolding in Ukraine, my friend Nikos [Dendias] is focused on his sole hobby: Defamation of Türkiye in any condition. Such dedication and so much effort put on such nonsense. So sad!” Cavusoglu wrote.

President Tayyip Erdogan also made an official statement saying that Turkiye (as Turkey wishes to be referred to) cannot abandon its ties with Russia or Ukraine.
President Erdogan also disapproved of Western diplomatic efforts with Moscow on national broadcaster NTV on Wednesday.
“It is not possible for us to abandon either [country],” he said.. “Our aim is that we take such a step that, God willing, we sort this out without abandoning either one.”
Urging Ukraine and Russia to resume negotiations, he also stressed NATO needs to “determine its stance” and avoid sanctions, even though he called Russia’s move “unacceptable”.
