The Greek Community of Melbourne will hold the International Women’s Day Dinner fundraiser at Philhellene restaurant in Moonee Ponds on the evening of Tuesday, 8 March.

Proceeds from the event, which includes a three-course meal, music, art and guest speakers, will go to CASA House, Centre Against Sexual Assault that is attached to the Royal Women’s Hospital in Carlton.

Jenna Turke, the CASA House Coordinator will be one of the speakers on the night. Other speakers will include Federal MP Maria Vamvkinou; journalist and broacaster Rena Frangiouthaki; GCM president Bill Papastergiadis and co vice president Anthea Sidiropoulos; Harmony Alliance, Reconciliation Victoria chairperson Maria Dimopoulos and CASA House advocate and former Victorian Health Minister Jenny Mikakos.

The work of Greek-Australian artist Efrossini Chaniotis will also be one of the highlights of the evening. Some of the proceeds raised from the sale of her work will also go to CASA House. Her work can also be bought online through her website.

“A significant day to remember how far we’ve come, and how far we still need to go towards gender equality,” said Ms Sidiropoulos.

This year’s event which was initiated by the owners of Philhellene, Moonee Ponds, John and Susie Rerakis, with music provided by Kat & Padi and guest musicians Taxithi Project’s Helen Yotis and Andrew Patterson.
