Prime Minister Scott Morrison has confirmed he has contracted COVID-19 and is suffering flu-like symptoms.
The Prime Minister tweeted stating he had taken a PCR test on Tuesday after he developed a fever. He explained that he had already been isolating at his home in Sydney for seven days but added his wife and children had tested negative.
Tonight I tested positive to COVID-19.
I am experiencing flu-like symptoms and will be recovering over the next week.
I had tested myself daily since Sunday, including this morning, with all tests returning a negative result.

The Prime Minister later pulled out of an event at the Sydney Opera House in support of Ukraine, citing an unspecified illness and “feeling under the weather”.
“I had tested myself daily since Sunday, including this morning, with all tests returning a negative result,” he said.
“I took a further test this evening after developing a fever late today. The test was inconclusive so I took a PCR test tonight which returned a positive result late this evening.”
He will continue many of his duties from isolation, including chairing meetings virtually on Queensland and NSW floods and the war in Ukraine.
I will also be focused on our urgent response to the tragedy unfolding in Ukraine and Russia’s senseless aggression, staying in regular contact with our security and intelligence officials & our international partners, as well as working with the Treasurer to finalise the Budget.
