Barrister Maria Tsikaris was named as one of four new judges appointed to the County Court of Victoria. Her appointment, along with those of Gary Clark, Andrew Fraatz and Simon Moglia, was announced yesterday by Attorney-General Jaclyn Symes.
“These new judges bring broad and extensive experience from their respective legal careers and will be excellent additions to the County Court of Victoria,” the attorney-general said.

Ms Tsikaris has practised law since 1990. She first worked in insurance law, public liability, personal injury litigation with Clements Hutchins and Co until 1994.
From 1994 to 2002, she worked for Dunhill Madden Butler and subsequently with Deacons and was a partner in these law firms from 1998 to 2002.
Before being admitted to the Victorian Bar in 2005, Ms Tsikaris worked as a senior legal adviser to medical panels and provided expert legal advice to medical professionals.
She replaces Judge Philip Misso who retired on 31 December and was appointed as a reserve judge of the court on 1 February.
