PAOK has kept their momentum going with an impressive derby success over AEK in their own backyard, putting third position well and truly up for the taking.

The Thessaloniki giants defeated Enosi 0-1 on Monday morning (AEDT) in the biggest fixture of the Greek Super League play-offs second round, extending their unbeaten league run to 16 matches.

The competition’s most in-form team found the game’s solitary goal after a composed one-on-one finish by striker Antonio Colak (50’).

Olympiacos was held to a 1-1 away draw by a fighting Giannina outfit. The Piraeus outfit took the ascendency on the stroke of half time through a finish by goal machine Youssef El Arabi (45+1’). Giannina forward Juan Jose Perea managed to find the net after a scramble in the box following a corner (70’), rescuing a point for the “Gianniotes” in the process.

Aris and Panathinaikos played out a 0-0 draw in Thessaloniki, with the Greens mustering an uncharacteristically defensive effort to secure a point despite a number of squad players missing.

A late goal from striker Efthymis Koulouris (90+2’) gave Atromitos a 1-0 home victory over Apollon Smyrnis on Sunday morning in the first round of the play-outs, with the Light Brigade left to rue a missed penalty from forward Giorgos Pamlidis (88’).

Lamia secured a 1-2 away success against Panetolikos to snap their seven-match losing streak. The Fthiotida club took a two-goal lead through a finish from a tight angle by striker Giorgos Manousos (45’) and a composed effort from midfielder Christos Eleftheriadis (77’). A fantastic shot from range by midfielder Frederico Duarte gave the Agrinio side what proved to be only a consolation goal.

A strong first half saw Asteras Tripolis earn a 0-2 away victory over Volos. The Arcadians found their goals through wingers Sito’s tap-in (15’) and Crespi’s well-placed finish (25’).

A first half blitz was just enough for Ionikos to secure a 2-3 win in Crete against OFI. The Nikaia side scored three times in the first half through captain Alaixys Romao’s header (11’) from a corner, a good finish into the bottom right by midfielder Georgios Mygas (39’) and a phenomenal strike from outside of the box by midfielder Dalcio (45’).

The Cretans managed to get two back through forward Luiz Phellype’s header (45+1’) and fellow striker Fiorin Durmishaj (56’) but Ionikos was able to hold on for the three points.
