Community and church groups in Australia will from Saturday have an opportunity to organise with their local cinemas to see Man of God, the film based on the life of St Nektarios that broke box office records in Greece and Cyprus last summer.
The film, which is in English is set for national distribution in Australia from 2 June.
Man of God was filmed in Greece despite difficulties posed by COVID restrictions and relied on a largely Greek cast and film crew. It stars Aris Servetalis in the lead role, with US actor Mickey Rourke and Russian star Alexander Petrov in supporting roles.
The film was produced, directed by Jelena Popovic who also wrote the script.
Angela King the marketing manager of Heritage Films which will distribute the film in Australia and New Zealand said that while the film was to have a general release ion 2 June, it would be possible from Saturday, 16 April, for community and church groups to ask their local cinemas to hold a screening of the film. The cinema will then be able to get a copy of the film from the distributor to screen it at an agreed time.

“You will have to use a cinema venue to see the film as a group. Thirty or more people in a group would be a good number although it may possible to arrange a screening for a smaller group, but this will depend on what the cinema’s management says,” said Ms King.
“It is a very simple thing to do (arrange a screening of the film):
a) gather a group of people and contact your local cinema and
b) contact Movies Change People (contact details are provided at the end of the story).
“This a good opportunity to see this wonderful film which may be restricted to select film venues after its general release in June, said Ms King.
Ms Popovic told Neos Kosmos the community screenings would help the film gain momentum ahead of its general release.
