An Australian businessman who had planned a long awaited Greek summer on the island Ios, was scammed over than $AUD9,000 for a house and a storefront he aimed to use in an enterprise.

The victim was to spend the whole summer season on the popular Greek tourist island, Ios. He has organised it all online with individuals which had posed as the actual owners of the properties he was hiring.

Upon arrival, the Australian man found out that the owners of the two properties had no clue about the transactions. The people he dealt with online had now disappeared with his money, and had deleted their profiles.

According to iefimerida.gr the unlucky 34-year-old travelled 13,578 kilometres with his suitcases and merchandise only to end up at the island’s police station where he pressed charges against anonymous scammers.
