The new Australian-linked Gundari resort chain has begun the construction of the first phase of a new green ultra-luxury resort on the southern Cyclades island of Folegandros.
The €20-million project which will go up in two phases, is located on the southern part of the island. The first phase which is expected to be completed by the summer of 2023 will provide 26 luxury rooms while the second phase is expected to provide another 25 rooms and is expected to be completed within the next two years.
Gundari is founded by Sydney-based businessman Ricardo Lariera who is also the CEO of the company whose focus is on providing high-quality luxury accommodation that is designed and built within strict bioclimactic principles with a zero-carbon footprint in unique locations.
The Folegandros project design will provide for suites and villas with autonomous heated pools and views overlooking the Aegean Sea. The resort will include two large heated pools and a spa with hydrotherapy facilities covering 400 square metres.
The project, which was launched three years ago, has received support from the Hellenic Investment and Foreign Trade Company (Enterpise Greece). The organisation facilitated a smooth part for the issuing of critical approvals and permits for the design and its building. It also ensured that approvals required by local authorities on the island were quickly reached.
