South Melbourne maintained the momentum at the top of the National Premier League (NPL) Victoria with a Patrick Langlois goal in the 20th minute of their away game against Avondale FC at Avenger Park on Sunday.

It was Langlois’ tenth goal of the season as he fashioned a low pass from Max Mikola into the single goal of the game that saw Hellas stay the top on 62 points and six points clear of second-placed Port Melbourne.

Oakleigh Cannons, who are third on 51 points, lost 1-0 to lowly Hume City – who on 26 points are 12th on the log.

Bentleigh Greens poured five unanswered goals into hosts Dandenong City’s goal. Heidelberg United were just as prolific against Eastern Lions who were able to get a consolation goal.

Port Melbourne, who beat the Knights 2-0 at home on Sunday, will host the first semi-final on Saturday, 3 September at 6pm. The team they will be facing is still to be announced.

South Melbourne host the second NPL Vic semi-final on Sunday 4 September at 4pm. Their opponents are also still to be announced.
