Oakleigh and Heidelberg are set for an epic high-stakes encounter in the first week of finals football, as Bentleigh strives to guarantee two all-Greek/Greek-Cypriot semi-finals and keep their championship hopes alive.

The Cannons’ match with “Megas” headlines one of two make-or-break elimination finals on Friday Night as they, along with the Greens, look to advance to the next stage of the play-offs.

Bentleigh opens the first week of finals with a massive away fixture against Green Gully, with both sides looking to lift their momentum as they seek to cause the other sides trouble.

“Pagkyprio” have had shaky form of late but a win in the last round will have boosted their spirits and reinvigorated them in the fight for the championship.

Green Gully will seek to capitalise on their home ground advantage and remove the possibility of all four semi-finalists being of Greek and Greek-Cypriot origin.

Oakleigh hosts “Alexandros” with both sides striving for silverware to end their respective campaigns on a high note.

The Cannons’ recent struggles (one win and four losses) cost them both the premiership and automatic qualification to the semi-finals, making the play-offs their last opportunity to salvage some success this term.

Heidelberg will look to give them a major challenge, playing with absolute freedom after clawing their way into the finals series on the last round of the regular season.
