The pressure is on Aris to step up as they prepare for a huge match against their fiercest rivals, PAOK, in the first blockbuster fixture this season.
Aris clashes with the Double-headed eagle of the North at home on Monday morning (AEST) in the headline fixture of the Greek Super League’s third round, with the yellow-blacks looking for significant improvement after a dismal loss to Panetolikos last week.
PAOK is aiming to record a great win to continue their perfect start to this league campaign as well as earn bragging rights over their crosstown rivals.
AEK hosts Giannina and they will be desperate to secure a victory after losing their opening league home game to Volos last round in what was an enormous upset.
Volos is striving to build on this impressive performance when they face OFI on home soil, with the Cretans also in need of a win after losing their first two games.
Atromitos is preparing for a visit from a confident Panetolikos side which is in great spirits after downing Aris, though the Peristeriotes will have faith in their abilities after nearly stealing a point against PAOK at “Toumba” last weekend.
Olympiacos takes on Ionikos in a home encounter on Sunday morning (AEST) and the reigning premiers will be eager to have a dominant victory following a disappointing goalless draw against Asteras Tripolis.
Panathinaikos battles Levadiakos at “Leoforos” with the aim of making it three straight successes to maintain a great beginning in the league this term.
Asteras Tripolis travels away to play Lamia in the opening game of the round and both sides will be fighting hard to record their first win of the season.
