Olympiacos have secured the services of Spanish player Pep Biel, 25, who arrived in Athens on Wednesday to undergo medical tests before signing on for the Piraeus team.
The highly rated midfielder’s transfer is expected to exceed €9 million, the most expensive in Greece this summer, reported Athens daily To Vima at a time when the Red and Whites have a series of difficult matches ahead of them and need quality players to take the field.
Biel is expected to fit the bill as a midfielder who can also play as right winger. He made a name for himself with FC Copenhagen a team he joined in 2019 from Real Zaragoza in Spain. It was Biel who scored the goal in dying moments which saw off Celtic and helped the Danish club to advance to the the round of 16 in the Europa League in February 2020.
During his time in the Danish capital, he made 128 appearances, scored 32 goals and provided 28 assists.
He was instrumental this year in helping Copenhagen to defeat Trabzonspor in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers. His Europa Conference League performance for Copenhagen against PAOK last year would have also drawn attention as he scored in both games against the Thessaloniki team.
Under his new contract, Biel is committed to the Greek champions for the next four years.
