Eva Kokotis the 15-year-old fast and crafty left winger has made the U 16 Victorian team. She caught the eye of football scouts at the 2022 National Youth Championships for Girls which kicked off in Coffs Harbour last Monday. Over 350 of the best female under-14s and 16s players from across Australia took part.

During the NPL Victorian season U 17 girls’ competition Eva Kokotis scored 16 goals, predominantly from left wing. Eva Kokotis is the daughter of South Melbourne FC board member and long-standing football luminary, Peter Kokotis.

Mr Kokotis was “extraordinarily proud with Eva’s achievements”.

“Eva works very hard” he added, “she is humble and equally tenacious in trying to fulfil her dreams.”

The proud father went on to express great excitement at the growth of women’s football across the nation.

“It is fantastic to see the women’s game exploding, I am really happy to see this wave of young women taking the women’s game to the next level” the proud father told Neos Kosmos.

Eva Kokotis said her father “made her mark with speed, aesthetic dribbling, and the ability to kick with both feet.”

No doubt we will see more of Eva Kokotis as she builds on her great skills.
