Filmmakers Danny and Michael Philippou, have been named as Talent Gateway and the Global Producers Exchange recipients for the Screen Australia and Australians in Film (AiF) awards.
The Greek-Australian twin brothers from South Australia have started an initiative that connects Australian creatives with key US stakeholders and institutions to help them expand their skills in the global market.
The duo, known on social media as RackaRacka, have amassed over two billion views and gathered more than six million fans between Facebook and YouTube, have just completed directing their debut feature film Talk to Me produced by Causeway Films.
“In such a global market we’re passionate about cultivating a strong pipeline of Australian screen projects and talent to gain exposure in the US, and leverage opportunities to reach international audiences and create strategic international alliances,” Screen Australia CEO, Graeme Mason, said announcing the award on 12 October.
Variety has also listed the Philippous on its FameChangers list, while they were also named in Australian Financial Review’s Cultural Power List among other accolades.
