On Sunday, December 4 the Estonian House in Brunswick West will ignite with Greek and other world music. Zourouna, Senes Flamenco, Vardos, Alex and Tash Vargas, Zulya and the Children of the Underground, celebrate Melbourne, as The Boite and 3ZZZ Radio host of musicians.

Con Kalamaras is well known for his enthusiastic Greek music. In this performance he will work with Alex Petropoulos and Yannis Arvanitis, playing traditional Greek music spanning the 1930s to the 1950s.

The sounds of the Mediterranean and the Middle East are Zourouna, whose artists heritages inlcude Syrian, Greek, Lebanese and Turkish contemporary and traditional tunes for listening, dancing and enjoying. They like to take their listeners on a musical journey with no borders.

Other performances will include the Flamenco artists Aya Kitaoji of Senes Flamenco with guitarist Alejandro Florez. Alex Vargas arrived in Australia after the 1973 Coup in his home country Chile. He and his daughter Tash, bring songs from the Chilean repertoire.

Vardos is a trio of women dedicated to the music of the Balkan Gypsies and their music extends from Romania through Bulgaria to Hungary. The Aria awarded Zulya and The Children of the Underground’s original music is inspired by Zulya’s Tatar heritage and melded with contemporary sounds.
