Kingsbury United Soccer Club and Reservoir United announced a merger last week and the two clubs will now operate as Reservoir United Soccer Club.
The announcement was made at the JC Donath Reserve in Reservoir by committee members in front of a room full of parents and players, highlighting future plans for the club.
Reservoir United SC president Nami Yilmaz said: “The merger will come as a benefit for everyone involved in the club, players, parents, coaches, everyone”
Prior to the merge, Kingsbury United SC operated as a miniroos and junior club with impressive accolades in their short history.
With teams in every age group from five to seventeen years-old, boys and girls. President Nami Yilmaz had cultivated a community of players and families from all cultural and economic backgrounds, striving for inclusivity for all.
Reservoir United (senior club) was founded in 2020. Their president Michael Gennaccaro and vice-president Tasso Kapetopoulos formed the club with the mission of keeping the team youth focused.

In the 2021-22 season, Reservoir United’s average squad age was of 20 years of age, far lower than the competition.
Now the two clubs will run as one, joining the men’s senior and reserve teams with the miniroos and junior teams. This move is seen as one that will benefit the whole .
Reservoir United SC senior footballing director Michael Gennaccaro said the community wanted this merger.
“It’s an opportunity for both clubs, as Kinsgbury United has been a junior club looking for seniors and Reservoir United has been a senior club looking to give juniors a pathway to senior football.”
”We feel this is a win for everyone and we are extremely excited with the immediate and long term future for providing a pathway to senior football for our junior players’” Mr Gennaccaro said.
Committee member of Reservoir United SC Tasso Kapetopoulos thanked Mr Yilmaz and Mr Gennaccaro for all their hard work, and said the merger had been planned for some time and was keen to see Reservoir United SC continue to champion diversity and inclusivity.
“The merger is a clear way of contributing to the community as whole and to the local football community”
“We have vision of a club that will grow, be competitive, sustainable and importantly, a football club open to diversity,” Mr Kapetopoulos told Neos Kosmos.
Reservoir United SC will hold senior trials for a senior and reserve team. Anyone under the age of eighteen can contact the club for the 2023-24 season at admin@reservoirunited.com.au
