The Newcastle Jets have bolstered their push for an A-League Men finals spot with the signing of Japan international Manabu Saito.

The 32-year-old winger has agreed a deal with the Jets until the end of the season.

The six-cap international, who played more than 200 games for J League side Yokohama F Marinos, joins Arthur Papas’ side from Korean outfit Suwon Bluewings.

“It’s an honour to join the Newcastle Jets,” Saito said in a statement.

“I’m looking forward to working with the boss and joining a team that plays attacking football, and I will do my best to bring success to the club.”

Saito arrives at the Jets as Papas’ men aim to end a finals drought that stretches back to the 2017-18 season.

After 13 games the Jets sit in 11th spot but can move into contention for the top six with a win over the Brisbane Roar on Friday.
