The GCM’s Greek Community Cup saw its quarter-final matches play out at Partridge Street Reserve on Sunday, deciding the line-up for the upcoming Cup semi’s on Saturday 4 February.

It’s the culmination of two weeks of strong competition from what began as 12 teams with historic Hellenic ties, now whittled down to the four last standing as of Sunday’s result.

East Kew eliminated West Preston from the comp with a 1-0 result Sunday afternoon, while Kingston City saw off the Oakleigh Cannons with an impressive score of 4-0.

And South Melbourne advance to the semi-finals when they beat Heidelberg United 1-0; at the same time Mill Park secured their spot in the play offs’ next stage defeating Box Hill by one goal in a 2-1 match.

Meanwhile the GCM Shield semi-finals also took place on Sunday with Malvern City beating Altona East 2-0 to progress to the final match.

And the Doncaster Rovers went head to head with the Bentleigh Cobras in an absolute showstopper of a game that went down to the wire, the Rovers taking it by a hair with a final tally of 5-4.

Held for the first time this year, the Greek Community Cup’s gone down a treat with friends and families descending on Mill Park FC’s home ground to show their support and share some quality time among community.

South Melbourne will now go up against Kingston City while East Kew face down Mill Park come the semi-finals scheduled for 1pm, Saturday 4 February at Partridge Street Reserve, Lalor.
