After three years of restrictions and lockdowns due to the pandemic, the Greek community is ready to celebrate its National Day in unison at Melbourne’s Lakeside Stadium.

On Sunday 19 March the parade honouring the upcoming 25 March anniversary will take place in Albert Park, in the presence of Archbishop Makarios of Australia and the Consul General of Greece in Melbourne, Emmanuel Kakavelakis, while both the State and Federal Governments have been invited.

Several schools have already started rehearsals and are preparing for the parade, which will open with over 50 drummers from the Greek community’s day schools.

On that note, the Victorian National Anniversary Committee is seeking volunteers willing to offer their time and assistance on the day of the parade.

A key requirement for those interested in participating in the National Day celebrations at Lakeside Stadium is to have a Working with Children Check as well as attend the special information session.

Schools and organisations that wish to participate should submit their application to do so in a timely manner.
