The Evzones Collection, a photographic exhibition showcasing Greece’s elite national guard by photographer Nick Bourdaniotis is heading to the Athens War Museum.

History Museum Designer and Conservation Technician Nikolaos Roussos recently requested the exhibition be shown at the Athens War Museum for the 25 March celebrations and is set to be displayed from 20 March to 5 April 2023.

Given that it is the first time that anyone from the Greek diaspora has been invited to showcase their works there the Evzones Collection team hope that this will pave the way for others in the arts community to potentially do the same.

Bourdaniotis’ Evzones Collection has donated a little over $50,000 to date to Greek charities, schools and organisations across Australia. In order to cover the costs of the exhibition to travel to Athens, a fundraiser will take place at the Beta – The Grand in Sydney where a three-course dinner, alcoholic and non-alcoholic selection, live entertainment, raffles, door prizes, prints and items for auction will be on offer on the evening of Friday, 3 March.

The exhibition under the creative direction of George Karantonis and Eirini Alligiannis’ curation, is endorsed by the Head of Garrison, the Greek Presidential Guard, the President of the Hellenic Republic, as well as the Hellenic General Staff of National Defense, the Consulate Generals of Greece in Melbourne as well as Sydney and Adelaide, the Ambassador of Greece to Australia, the 200 Years of Hellenism Committee, and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia.

The focus to date, apart from sharing Greece’s culture, history, customs and traditions through exceptional photographs of The Evzones, has been on raising funds for
