A 17-year-old was charged with two crimes and two misdemeanors by a Greek prosecutor on Sunday as part of a group that attacked and injured MeRA25 party leader Yanis Varoufakis.

Varoufakis was attacked in the central Athens suburb of Exarchia on Friday evening and was treated for his injuries at the city’s Evangelismos Hospital. The teenager charged over the attack was arrested by Greek police on Saturday.

The charges read to the 17-year-old include the crimes of serious physical harm and forming a gang, and the misdemeanors of illegal violence and illegal possession of arms. Any other members of the group found will face similar charges.

The teenager, who Greek media reports is known to authorities, will testify before a juvenile court investigator on Monday.
