The derby of the eternal enemies is lined up perfectly to thrill this weekend as it stands to play a dramatic role in the fates of Panathinaikos and Olympiacos’ respective title pushes.

The “Trifylli” battles their archenemy at “Leoforos” Stadium on Monday morning in the fourth round of the Greek Super League’s play-offs, and both teams have much to gain in what is one of the most anticipated encounters (with the highest stakes) between the two rivals in years.

A win for the Greens would put a huge dent in their opponents’ dreams of a fourth straight premiership, a fact which would make victory taste even sweeter.

The Piraeus giants, meanwhile, could draw level on points with their bitter nemesis in what would be a huge confidence boost for them and a crushing psychological blow to Panathinaikos, who have spent nearly the entire season ahead of them on the ladder.

AEK hosts Aris at “Agia Sophia” ground as they look to earn their third straight win and potentially establish a lead in first, should the “Trifylli” drop points in their clash.

The Thessaloniki outfit will do their all to will themselves to an upset after a tame start to the play-offs, two losses and a draw, has seen them gain no advantage in their fight for fifth position with Volos.

The Magnesia side, who remain one point behind Aris, travels away to challenge PAOK at “Toumba” Stadium as they continue their pursuit for a major scalp to kickstart their play-offs campaign.

The Double-headed eagle of the North will be eager to secure a win and lift their spirits after their midweek loss to Olympiacos essentially eliminated them from the title race.

Levadiakos travels to face Asteras Tripolis in the third round of the relegation play-outs on Sunday morning, and the “blue-greens” will have to gather all their strength to earn a much-needed victory as they strive to escape last place.

Ionikos takes on Panetolikos away with the goal of extending their gap between themselves and Levadiakos which currently stands at two points.

Giannina goes on the road to face the best-ranked team in the play-outs, Atromitos, in a huge match after their torrid form of late (four straight defeats) has dragged them into the relegation scrap.

OFI hosts an in-form Lamia outfit that is aiming for their third consecutive win, with the Fthiotida team’s recent results considerably helping their survival prospects but by no means guaranteeing their safety.
