Bank of Sydney has announced the appointment of Melos Sulicich as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective from May 15, 2023.
Sulicich brings a wealth of Australian and international leadership and board experience to the role, and the bank has stated that he has “proven experience in driving growth across industries and deep expertise in the banking and financial services sector.”
Nicholas Pappas AM, Bank of Sydney Chairman, and current chairman of the South Sydney Rabbitohs Rugby league club, expressed his excitement at the appointment, saying “The Board is delighted that Melos Sulicich will lead the Bank through the next phase of its ambitious growth journey. Melos demonstrates strong alignment with Bank of Sydney’s values and will be a tremendous asset to the organisation. We wish him every success.”
Sulicich’s previous leadership positions include Managing Director and CEO of MyState Ltd, Westpac Banking Corporation CEO – RAMS Financial Group, Non-Executive Director Challenger Bank Limited (member Audit Committee and Risk Committee), and Non-Executive Director Australian Banking Association Limited.

In the statement announcing his appointment, Sulicich shared his enthusiasm for the new role, stating that he has “always enjoyed working in and leading challenger brands to drive change and provide better customer outcomes.”
He added, “Bank of Sydney has a unique opportunity to grow significantly at a time when people and businesses are looking for a better alternative and I look forward to working with the team to deliver a better banking experience for all Australians.” The statement concluded by affirming that Mr. Sulicich, in his new role, “will continue to provide genuine value to our people, customers, communities and partners.”
