Melbourne City’s Jamie Maclaren has been celebrated today with a mural located at Richmond Station, at the heart of Melbourne’s sporting precinct near AAMI Park.

Maclaren became the league’s all time highest goal scorer two weeks ago in a 3-1 victory over Western United.

His hat trick saw him equal then pass Besart Berisha as the A-League Men’s all-time greatest leading goal scorer.

The mural was unveiled ahead of the club’s two-legged semi-final clash with Sydney FC, starting this Friday at Allianz Stadium, then next Friday at AAMI Park.

The 29-year-old will also claim his fourth-straight and record fifth, Golden Boot Award this season.

“I was born and raised in Melbourne and the Olympic Park is an iconic part of our city, so it is an unbelievable honour to see this mural come to life and even more special that Hannah created it,” Maclaren said.

“When I signed for Melbourne City in 2019 I had ambitions of breaking records and I am really proud of what we have achieved. Now I am focused on winning another trophy with Melbourne City in the Finals Series.”

The mural of the striker was designed and painted by fellow City striker Hannah Wilkinson, who was happy with the opportunity.

“I’m stoked to get this opportunity to design this mural for ‘Macca’. I’ve drawn and been a creative since before I started kicking a ball. It’s always something I’m doing outside of football. So to combine the two, for a club I love, is amazing,” Wilkinson said.

“He broke the record in style, with a hat-trick. The photo is awesome. I do comic-style drawings and I wanted to really capture his expression, the energy and his excitement, and I wanted to have a light colour to bring him out. It was super fun to draw.”

Tickets for the Semi Finals First Leg are now on sale for members and will go on sale at 4.00pm AEST today (Tuesday 9 May) for the general public. Tickets for the Second Leg Semi Finals are also on sale via Ticketek.

Every match of the Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s Final Series will be broadcast live and free on Network 10, and live on Paramount+.
