A long-awaited moment came to fruition a couple of days ago as Greek music legend George Dalaras graced the city of Perth with his presence for the very first time.

Last Monday the Perth Concert Hall was filled with the enchanting sounds of timeless melodies that have resonated with Greeks of all ages around the world for decades.

George Dalaras, accompanied by two talented rising musicians, Aspasia Stratigou and Alexandros Tzouganakis, transported the Perth audience back to Greece and to youthful memories for many, delivering over 50 years of musical presence in a mesmerising three-hour performance.

The Consul of Greece in Perth, Georgia Karasiotou, and Fotis Korkokios hosted a dinner in honour of the world-renowned musician and his wife, Anna Dalaras.

The events guests included George and Marina Georgiou, as well as Sam Pambris of Encore Productions By Pambris Bros.

“It was a true honour and privilege to welcome Mr Dalaras to the Consulate of Greece in Perth before his departure for Sydney, the next stop on his Australian tour,” said Ms Karasiotou, who posted on Facebook:

“Αχ, τα τραγούδια είν’ ευχή (Ah, songs are a prayer),

και πάρε τη μαζί σου (take them with you).

Στ’ αρώματα, στα χρώματα (In scents, in colors),

στις μουσικές χαρίσου (bestow them through music).

Εις το επανιδείν! (Until we meet again!)”
