Friends and guests of the Greek Orthodox Community of Oakleigh and District and Oakleigh Grammar gathered on Saturday night for a gala event celebrating 60 years since the founding of the community and the 40th anniversary of the school.
“It was a highly successful event and one of many to follow throughout 2023, as this is a milestone year for us,” said Chris Damatopoulos, Oakleigh Grammar’s School Board Chair.
Earlier in May, on the occasion of the anniversary of its flagship school, the community celebrated the official opening of its new N P Nikolakakis Centre for Academic Excellence, in the presence of Archbishop Makarios, Federal Minister Clare O’Neil, and Victorian MP Steve Dimopoulos among others.
Hosted by the Oakleigh Grammar Parents’ Association at Vogue Ballroom, the Saturday Gala event was sold-out within an hour after tickets were released in March.
