Oakleigh Cannons – Heidelberg United

All eyes of NPL Championship fans will be on Oakleigh this weekend, as the local Cannons welcome Alexandros in a derby full of blue and white football history. Two of the biggest teams in the league will face each other in a match that is expected to be decided by strength and individual duels.

The hosts are coming off a home win against Dandenong Thunder, while the visitors, who are undeniably on the rise, had no trouble beating St Albans 3-0.

The match promises to offer powerful moments, a beautiful football spectacle, and endless duels across the length and breadth of the pitch. Don’t miss it!

South Melbourne – Dandenong Thunder

This Sunday (11/06), South Melbourne will welcome the Albanian Thunder. Coach Quintas’ well-tuned football machine is in high spirits after cruising past the Knights’ home last week, demonstrating their commitment to winning the championship this season.

The visitors are coming off an away defeat against the Cannons and will be expected to give their all-in order to get back to the positive results that will keep them in the top six of the table.

Port Melbourne Sharks – Green Gully

This Friday night (06/09 – 19:30) is sure to be a thrilling match as Port Melbourne take on their fierce rivals Green Gully at JL Murphy Reserve. Both teams are separated by only six points in the standings, with Port Melbourne in fifth and Green Gully in seventh, so the stakes are high and a derby atmosphere is sure to be created.

It’s going to be a highly anticipated game with a lot on the line, so make sure to get to the stadium early to secure your seat and get ready for a night of edge-of-your-seat action.

Bentleigh Greens – Melbourne Knights

This week, Pancyprios faces an incredibly tough mission. They must take on Melbourne Knights, one of the strongest teams in the division, while they themselves are in second-to-last place in the table.

Last week, the “Croatians” were defeated by South Melbourne, leaving them in fourth place in the standings, with New Hellas dangerously close behind in fifth. To leave the match with the three points in their pocket, Pancyprios will have to make an extra effort.

NPL2

Northcote will host Kingston City this week in the blue and white derby of NPL2. The unstable Northcote side has been unable to find consistency, displaying a different face each week. The home side will have to put in a great effort to defeat the well-drilled Kingston outfit.

The “Red and Whites” are in second place in the standings, just three points behind Preston, and they will be determined to not lose ground in the race for first place.

Brunswick will have the chance to move up a place or two in the table this week as they face the young Melbourne City, who have only two points more than the “Greek” team.

NPL3

This weekend, Box Hill United face a daunting challenge as they travel to North Sunshine to take on the tough Eagles. The Box Hill club must give their all if they hope to leave the field with their heads held high. Let’s hope that the “Greek” team can soon find their footing and manage to climb out of the lower levels of the standings in which they have been since the beginning of the season.

State Leagues

Yarraville are away from home this week. The “Blue and White” club will travel north of Melbourne to face the second-placed team, Sydenham Park.

The two “Greek” teams of the Southeast group will compete at home. Aris will host Mornington, while Malvern will host Gippsland United.
