Educator writer and artist Stella Sorotou presented her inaugural poetry collection titled ‘Right for a Homeland’ last week to a Sydney audience including Greek state and church officials, parish members, young students and music aficionados.

The launch event, held at the Kogarah church Hermes Lounge, was co-hosted by the Greek Orthodox Parish & Community of Resurrection of Christ, Kogarah and the ‘DIDAS’ Art & Language Centre, and included a music performance by the ‘Melina Ensemble’.

The new publication, illustrated with Mrs Sorotou’s own artwork, was presented by Dr Vassilis Adrahtas and the launch was accompanied by the recitation of poems from the book, which had been selected by young students of Mrs Sorotou.

Traditional songs were performed by Melisma Ensemble under the artistic direction of Dr Dimitris Koubaroulis, while the event concluded with an address on the part of the Consul General of Greece in Sydney Mr Ioannis Mallikourtis.
