The Greek Community of Melbourne’s Language & Culture Schools have continued their highly successful online Greek language program, “Greek for Late Beginners,” which caters to children aged 10-18 who didn’t have the opportunity to start learning Greek at a younger age.
This innovative program allows students to develop their communication skills in Modern Greek while immersing themselves in Greek language and culture. No prior knowledge of Greek is required.
Utilising technology, the program offers interactive virtual classrooms that create an engaging educational environment.
Experienced educators follow the best practices to ensure effective learning outcomes and bridge any knowledge gaps for each student.
By offering online classes, the program addresses the educational needs arising from students’ daily obligations, limited commuting time, distance from Greek schools, and lack of school units in remote areas.
Each term, the program offers 9-11 lessons, with each lesson lasting two hours. Students can choose from open classes accommodating up to 10 individuals or smaller groups of up to 4 students.
The upcoming term, starting in July, introduces new beginner classes at level A1.1, where students learn the alphabet, greetings, self-introduction, and daily activities description.
Additionally, classes are available for A1.2, A1.3, A1.4, A1.6, A2.3, and an exclusive closed class for A2.3.
Eleni Dimitriou, a teacher at the GCM schools and coordinator of the “Greek for Beginners” program, expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “With this program, we offer all children who want to learn Greek the opportunity to fulfill their dream and desire from the comfort of their own homes. It doesn’t matter where they are or if they have little or no knowledge of Greek! We start the journey of Greek from scratch, and gradually, through the weekly lessons. Also, technology makes things easier. All one needs for these lessons is internet access, a computer, and a willingness to learn. Leave everything else to the experienced team.”
