The NSW Government has set an open invitation for all community organisations to apply for the Multicultural NSW Stronger Together Project Grants 2024.
The Multicultural NSW Stronger Together Project Grants 2024 program is designed to aid grassroots projects that can make a lasting positive impact on social cohesion and meet a community need.
Project Grants, the ones currently open, can provide funding ranging from $20,000-40,000 for activities to be delivered between January 1-December 31 2024.
This is a Grant type within the Stronger Together program which also includes Festival and Event grants, Festival partnerships with Local Councils and COMPACT Grants.
Multicultural NSW will be running an online information session on the project grants program from 10.30am on Wednesday June 28. Applications for Project Grants close at 3pm on Friday July 7 2023.
The announcement came on World Refugee Day (June 20), with NSW Minister for Multiculturalism Steve Kamper believing that community organisations have the means to aid refugees who come to Australia.
“When people flee oppression or violence, they need a safe haven where they can rebuild their lives and meet their aspirations,” Mr Kamper said.
Since 2015, more than 35, 000 refugees have arrived in NSW from countries like Ukraine, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Congo and Myamar.
The minister added that it is vital to give support to community groups as they can help current and future refugees (and migrants) settle in and contribute to the state’s diversity.
“When refugees are given the best chance to settle into a community, not only do they thrive, but they help their community to grow as well. Our grassroots organisations are best equipped at finding place-based solutions to issues impacting local communities.”
“By building stronger, more socially cohesive communities we are investing in our state’s greatest asset; its people.”
More information on all the eligibility requirements can be found here, where you can also apply for a Project grant.
