Runner Stavros Michael is embarking on a formidable task – running a half marathon (21km) every four hours, for two days, covering a total distance of 252km.
His endeavour aims to raise funds for the Big Group Hug charity, which provides essential items for struggling families, from clothing to toiletries, newborns to teenagers.
Taking place at Princes Park in Melbourne from June 26 to June 28, the fundraiser will witness Stavros completing his first run at the Big Group Hug hub in Airport West, with a live stream capturing the momentous finish.
Stavros, a seasoned marathon runner who has previously achieved first-place finishes, embraces the challenge as a meditative, empowering, and refreshing experience.
Combining it with fundraising to support families in need adds an extraordinary dimension to his journey.
The community is encouraged to join Stavros by signing up, fundraising, and participating in the run.
Whether running a single kilometer or the full 252km, everyone can contribute to this noble cause. Even those located afar will be participating in Mornington Peninsula.
Stavros has long been a supporter of Big Group Hug and aims to inspire others to join the cause.
The organisation’s Manager of Fundraising and Communications, Maria Quigley, expresses gratitude for Stavros’ dedication and urges everyone to get involved in any way possible – running, fundraising, or donating.
It is the collective support of the community that enables Big Group Hug to make a difference in the lives of thousands of children each year.
