Hume City – Oakleigh Cannons

Chris Taylor’s Oakleigh Cannons stopped Hume City in their tracks, proving their supremacy.

The “Turkish” club tried to make things difficult for the “lads” from Oakleigh by fielding a tight set, covering all areas, and keeping a clean sheet for an entire half.

However, Oakleigh’s attacking efficiency proved too much to handle as the second half began. Alex Salmon, Oakleigh’s centre-forward, took the ball just outside the box, made a control, and fired a shot on the opposing goalkeeper, making it 0 – 1 in the 46th minute of the match.

Pantazopoulos signed for Wanderers

Anthony Pantazopoulos was absent from the match against the “Turks”.

According to exclusive information from the footballer’s circle, the left-back has signed a contract with Western Sydney Wanderers, with whom he will compete in the upcoming season in the A-League championship.

This is a great development in the career of the talented defender, who a few days ago emphasized in an interview with us that he wants more than anything else to play in bigger leagues, where he can be 100% dedicated to football. Congratulations, Anthony!

Bentleigh Greens – Heidelberg United

Mario Barcia opened the scoring for Bentleigh in the 34th minute of the match, but Kaine Sheppard equalized for Heidelberg in the 59th minute. Both teams fought hard to secure the three points, emphasizing their defensive lines to cover any gaps that could present themselves.

Despite the numerous battles within the four lines of the pitch, there were few goal-scoring opportunities. In the end, both gladiators failed to “steal” the victory, leaving the sunny yet cold Kingston Heath Reserve with one point in their luggage.

Port Melbourne – Dandenong Thunder

Jackson Courtney-Perkins’ missed chances cost Port Melbourne a win at home against Thunder. The Greek team had dominated their opponent, and if Courtney-Perkins had had a better day, they would have secured the three points from the first half of the match.

The home striker will surely spend a restless night in bed, wondering what he could have done differently in order to get at least one goal for his side. Port Melbourne missed a huge chance to get closer to the Knights in the standings after Altona Magic beat the Croats 3-2.

NPL2

Leaders Kingston were held to a 1-1 draw away against Eastern Lions in an eventful match, with the hosts equalizing in the 87th minute with a disputed penalty. Protests from the Kingston people resulted in two of their players being given red cards, but composure eventually prevailed and the referee blew the final whistle.

City also suffered an away defeat in the local Brunswick derby against Juventus, with a score of 1-0. Northcote and Bulleen Lions ended in a nil-nil draw, with both opponents trying to produce layered football, but missing some valuable chances in front of the two keepers, leaving them with one point each.

NPL3

It was a goal-scoring frenzy in Geelong during the match between the local team and Box Hill United. Pythagoras found themselves two goals down, but with an attacking surge in the final minutes, they scored two goals, bringing the score to 4-4, securing at least one point in the tie.

State Leagues

The winner of the “Greek” derby in the Southeast group of the State League 1 was Malvern. The “Blues” easily defeated Aris from Springvale with a score of 3-0. Yarraville, however, failed against Whittlesea Ranges. The “Greek” team was defeated 0-2 at home, missing a great opportunity to gain two or three places in the standings.
