The Asylum Seekers Resource Centre recently held its Winter Appear in an effort to support those in need during one of the toughest financial winters Australia has seen.
Among those in the community that rallied together, NAFSIKA UNIT No 13 made a large donation to the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre at Footscray Victoria.
The $2,000 donation was presented by the Unit President, Efterpi Kritsopoulos to the CEO and founder of the ASRC, Kon Karapanagiotidis at their recent radiothon. The past President, Stella Lambrou and the next President, Niki Mantziaris were also present.
Kon Karapanagiotidis thanked those that contributed to the ASRC’s Winter Appeal in a time when the Government “continues to deny the basic rights that Asylum Seekers need”.
“At such tough economic times your donation ensures that families seeking asylum this winter do not have to make impossible decisions,” he added.
“Your donation will provide housing security, health security and food security. Thank you for standing with us and refugees and enabling us to remain a homeof hope and welcome.”
