Teachers and students of Prospect Primary School in Adelaide composed an Aboriginal-Greek fusion song and created a video in dedication to NAIDOC Week celebrating Aboriginal and Greek ties in Kaurna land.
Greek Australian teacher Simone (Asimina) Karanicolas teamed up with the school’s Aboriginal Community Education Officer, Petiola Wilson, for this powerful visual statement on indigenous roots and multiculturalism.

Featuring five students, dressed in traditional attire of their Aboriginal and Greek ancestors, the video presents a smoking ceremony and a ‘welcome’ message expressed through translated words and images of both cultures sharing astronomy, appreciation for land, community and heritage.
In a place representative of Tarntanyangga (Red Kangaroo dreaming), the heart of Kaurna country, the little ‘Future Dreamers’ meet, inquire and generate understanding together, while unveiling links between the two cultures.
