On Tuesday 81 community organisations from across NSW were successful Multicultural NSW Stronger Together Festival and Event Grant program.
These groups will collectively receive over $630,000 in funding, to host community festivals and events over the next eight months.
The Festival and Event Grants vary in amount, ranging from $5,000 to $15,000. In a statement Steve Kamper, the NSW Minister for Multiculturalism, highlighted the geographical reach of these events.
“From the Tweed in the North, South to Albury, and West past Dubbo, we’re investing in grassroots festivals and events to help locals celebrate and share their culture.”
He added that “regardless of one’s place of residence” there are plenty opportunities to immerse oneself in the vibrant cultures of the diverse people that contribute to the greatness of the state.
The statement also said that the program funds festivals that engage with a broad range of communities, “foster community harmony and celebrate cultural diversity as a precious part of our identity and way of life.”
In 2021/22 more than 110 festivals and events were supported by Multicultural NSW grant funding.
Among the recipients are two Greek groups the Cyprus Community NSW Ltd and The Greek Orthodox Parish and Community of Burwood and District Saint Nectarios.
