Main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance parliamentary group president, Sokratis Famellos, shared his insights on the wildfires during an interview with ERT1 on Thursday.
He emphasised the urgency of “restoration and compensations the day after the fires” and reiterated his proposals for “immediate actions.”
While the operational plan is still underway, Famellos stated that SYRIZA has chosen not to intervene, showing respect for the efforts of those battling the blaze. However, he indicated that a discussion on the government’s state of readiness will occur later.
Famellos also pointed out that addressing the climate crisis and its impact on the environment is crucial. He criticised Prime Minister Mitsotakis for voting against the law for restoring nature in the European Parliament, calling it a mistake.
Famellos further highlighted the need for consistency in dealing with the climate crisis and highlighted the presence of an inconsistency within ruling New Democracy, AMNA reported.
