From Melbourne, the Archbishop of Australia proclaimed the commencement of the Pan-Australian meal program “Five Loaves” for the “underprivileged brethren” during a special charity event.
“We announce the start of the meal program for our needy fellow citizens throughout Australia,” Archbishop Makarios said.
“We will strive to stand by every underprivileged brother, offering them at least one meal. I call for a general mobilisation for this purpose. Everyone can contribute. Soon, the program will exp

and to Adelaide, Brisbane, and Perth under the supervision of our revered Bishops there.”
Notably, the “Five Loaves” program, which has already been piloted in Sydney and Melbourne for the past two years, has provided literally thousands of meals to those in need among our fellow citizens in the two major cities of Australia.
This initiative is part of the philanthropic ministry of both Archbishop Makarios and the Holy Archdiocese of Australia.

During his speech, Makarios congratulated the most Reverend Bishop of Sozopolis, Kyriakos, for his “exceptional work in the field of philanthropy”, particularly in the “Five Loaves” program, and wished him to continue with the same zeal, along with his dedicated collaborators.
Bishop Kyriakos, on his part, expressed gratitude to the volunteers, donors, and all those who have embraced this endeavor, warmly praising the personality of Archbishop Makarios, “whose initiative this program is and with whose blessing we move forward,” as he highlighted.

Also present at the event were the most Reverend Bishops Jacob of Miletopolis, Silouan of Synope, and Eumenios of Kerasondos, the Protosyncellus of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, Archimandrite Christoforos Krikellis, and several clergymen of the Archdiocesan District of Melbourne.
During the event, young members of the Greek community performed traditional dances.
