Do you have a loved one living in an aged care home or accessing home care?
This coming Monday 7 August, Australians celebrate the Aged Care Employee Day, taking the opportunity to recognise all those workers who care for our elderly.
They include from nurses and carers to allied health professionals, administration and maintenance staff.

Ahead of the national day, the Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia (GOCSA) and Ridleyton Greek Home for the Aged, have issued a message addressing aged care workers in their premises and Australia-wide.
“Thank you for the love and support you give to those within our care; the compassion and dedication you bring, and the dignity and respect you show to the elders of our Greek and the wider community,” said GOCSA President Peter Gardiakos.
“We are proud of the care and support you, and aged care employees across Australia, deliver daily.”
The last few years Australians experienced unprecedented isolation, with our elderly amongst those heavily impacted.
Many families and friends were unable to visit loved ones for weeks on end.
“It often fell to the carers, the nurses and other staff to make up for that loss of family contact and become that crucial connection for frail and vulnerable older Australians,” Mr Gardiakos says.
“So, in the lead up to 7 August, we encourage our community to think of the nurses, personal care workers, chefs, cleaners, gardeners, laundry staff, activities coordinators and administration staff when they next visit a loved one in aged care.”
