AEK is searching for their maiden league to kickstart their title defence, travelling to Volos in a match they hope can lift their spirits following their Champions League exit.
Enosi takes on the Magnesia outfit in the Greek Super League’s third round on Monday morning (AEST), hoping to make up for a disappointing last week that saw them drop out of the Champions League and draw their opening league game to Panserraikos.
Volos, likewise, is also hoping to record their first victory this campaign, though they will have to be at their absolute best if they wish to down a still very dominant side in AEK.
Panathinaikos, the other team fresh off Champions League disappointment, faces Giannina away with the aim of making it back-to-back successes in the league.
Olympiacos hosts Lamia at “Georgios Karaiskakis” ground and the Piraeus giants will be in a great mood after successfully qualifying for the Europa League group stage midweek.
PAOK makes the trip to Crete to battle OFI in a bid to continue their strong start, having won their opening two games in the league and making it through to the Europa Conference League group stage.
Aris is preparing for a visit from Asteras Tripolis, and they are in desperate need of a win even more than any of the other big teams, having already lost one manager to resignation following a terrible start to their season.
The Arcadians will no doubt be hoping to catch their opponents in a phase of turmoil and extend their misery.
The round opens with Kifisia playing Atromitos at home on Saturday morning, with both teams hoping to get points on the board, particularly the recently promoted hosts who are trying to establish a presence in the competition.
Panserraikos contests with Panetolikos in the other fixture of the matchday, and the Agrinio club will need to be sharp to down a Serres team that managed to scrape a point against reigning champions AEK last week.
