It was a weekend of stunning results for the South Melbourne Club, celebrating all its four senior teams winning through to a Grand Final.

On Friday, Marcus Schroen’s double secured a 2-1 win over the Oakleigh Cannons and a place in the Grand Final for the senior men team who will be taking on Avondale FC.

South Melbourne’s senior women followed, storming into the NPL Grand Final after defeating Boroondara Eagles 2-1 at the Veneto Club on Saturday night.

The Eagles were leading on the first half but Francesca Iermano found the back of the net in time before the break bringing the team on level terms.

Hellas produced a strong display in the second half with Tayla Christensen securing the 2-1 score that won the team a ticket to the Grand Final.

South Melbourne’s women are set to face Bulleen Lions, who headed into their semifinal match, also on Saturday, as the NPLW Premiers with 40 points, and prevailed over Calder United.

Menwhile, a goal by Emily Rutkowski put South Melbourne’s Under 19 women also through to the Grand Final after defeating Calder 1-0 at Lakeside Stadium on Saturday.

The Under 21s in the men’s team also won on penalties, defeating Oakleigh to clinch a spot in the finals.

“We continue to strive to be the best in the state and country in both male and female football and we are extremely proud of each playing group to have reached the final day of the season.Let’s back them all in this week!,” the South Melbourne club stated in a congratulatory message to the teams on socials.
