On December 9 one of Australia’s most important music group The Necks will conjure a unique musical chemistry that defies descriptions.

The hypnotic grooves the trio weave will no doubt find a very appreciative audience in Athens.

The Necks have secured acclaim in the United States, Europe and Australia and this will be the first time they play in Athens.

The Los Angeles Times wrote: “A magic act masquerading as a piano trio, this Australian group delivers long-form improvisations that shift with such patient beauty that it casts a bit of a trance. You’ll seldom spend an hour that passes so quickly — and rewardingly.”

Chris Abrahams on piano, Tony Buck on drums, and Lloyd Swanton on bass will weave their lengthy pieces which slowly unravel in the most mesmerising fashion, frequently underpinned by an insistent deep groove, their eighteen albums stand up to re-listening time and time again.

The deceptive simplicity of their music throws forth new charms on each hearing. Not entirely avant-garde, nor minimalist, nor ambient, nor Jazz, their music is possibly unique in the world today.
