The “Democritus” Labor Union presents the book and the opening of the exhibition titled “Unrepentant – Giannis Ritsos – Panagiotis Lyssiotis” this Sunday, September 24, 2023, at 2.30pm at their cultural center located at 583 High Street, Northcote.
Through a photo montage by the experimental Greek photographer and poet, Peter Lyssiotis, in dialogue with the poetry of Giannis Ritsos (excerpts from the poet’s work “Diaries of Exile”).
“Unrepentant” serves as a work of remembrance for those who suffered, were imprisoned, and executed by right-wing governments in Greece.
The conception and organisation of this event belong to Nicholas Pounder.
The book presentation and exhibition opening will be conducted by La Trobe University’s Dr George Vasilakopoulos.
The exhibition will run from September 24 to October 8, 2023, on weekdays from 11am to 5pm, and on weekends from 11am to 3pm.
The event will also include a discussion about the need to support the Voice of the First Nations of this country in the upcoming referendum on October 14. Everyone is welcome.
