The NSW Government has officially opened up their Festival and Events Grants for the state’s multicultural and multifaith organisations, encouraging all to apply and have a share of the over $450,000 offered.
The grants are part of Multicultural NSW’s Stronger Together Grants Program for 2024, as part of its investment in community activities that foster community harmony and celebrate cultural diversity as a precious part of our identity and way of life,
Various subtypes of the grants are on offer at various times throughout the year, with the Festival and Events Grants now open to support NSW’s community groups.
Every year hundreds of grassroots not-for-profit organisations across NSW use the Festival and Event grants to celebrate their cultural heritage and
Eligible organisations can apply for grants of between $5,000 and $15,000 to help organise festivities that celebrate and embrace cultural diversity e.g. sharing food, music and entertainment with their community as well as the wider community at large.
Groups can get funding for any festivals and events planned in the period of 1 March and 31 July 2024, with grant applications needing to be sent through by 3pm on Friday 13 October, 3pm.
NSW Minister for Multiculturalism Steve Kamper stressed the NSW government’s ongoing commitment to celebrating the state’s diversity, believing that “the more connected a community is, the stronger it is in the face of adversity”.
“The NSW Government is investing in grassroots festivals and events that bring us together to celebrate and share cultural connections,” Mr Kamper said in the announcement of the Festival and Grants’ opening.
“It doesn’t matter where you live or visit in NSW, there’s an opportunity to enjoy the culture and vibrancy of the diverse people in this great state.”
Multicultural NSW will be running an online information session about these grants via Microsoft TEAMS on 10am on Wednesday 4 October.
Anyone interested in joining the online session is asked to rsvp via email at grantsinfo@multicultural.nsw.gov.au, and outline the email/s where you would like the invite sent by 11am on Tuesday 3 October.
