Football is more than just a sport, it’s an enchantment that brings people together and makes dreams come true around the globe.
We all know those amazing moments when the black and white ball takes the spotlight, be it a cup final, a World Championship semi-final, or a local derby. Last week, however, something magical happened when South Melbourne Hellas and Brisbane Olympic clashed in a game to determine the season champion.
South Melbourne Hellas emerged victorious, with a score of 2-0, captain Amir Brand-Abdi and MVP Brendan Spencer scoring the winning goals.
“The opening goal was scored by our Captain Amir Brand-Abdi. With three minutes left on the clock, player of the match Brendan Spencer shot from a tight angle for the title-winning goal. Simon Briffa delivered an epic performance in goals with a clean sheet to ensure the Championship trophy remains at Lakeside Stadium for another year,” the club wrote in a Facebook post about the match.
This was yet another remarkable moment in South Melbourne Hellas’ history, and a testament to the power of football to support vulnerable groups in our society.
The king of sports reigns!
