As part of her preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games that officially commenced three weeks ago, Antigone Dritsbioti will return to Australia in December.

The Greek race-walker, who clinched a bronze medal just a few months ago in the 20km race walk at the Budapest World Championships, and accomplished a similar feat in 2022, said that she considers Melbourne the “bedrock” of her training, alongside Greece.

During this period, she’ll undergo training under the guidance of her coach, Brent Valance, alongside Jemina Montag, the silver medalist from the Budapest World Championships. Furthermore, she’ll have opportunities to participate in various competitive events.

Drawing from her early 2023 experiences, she said in a post on social media that she is well-prepared for the rigours she’ll encounter at both the Melbourne training centre and at the training camps.

“I anticipate, she said, “just as I did last year, to attain peak performance”.

Her first goal of the year is the 20km race walk at the European Championships in Rome slated to take place on 7 June 2024.

Drisbioti is scheduled to depart for Australia on December 1, where she’ll remain until March 30.
