2023 Australian Hellenic Memorial Foundation School Competition winners announced

The competition, now in its 14th year, has become a prestigious tradition promoting peace while celebrating the academic excellence and dedication of students in the Australian Hellenic community.

The 2023 Australian Hellenic Memorial Foundation School Competition took place at the Australian Hellenic Memoria on Sunday.

The event was held in a positive, preace-promoting atmosphere as deserving students were recognised for their outstanding achievements throughout the school year, however, it was also marked by current world events.

The competition’s success can be attributed not only to the exceptional students but also to the dedicated teachers, supportive parents, and generous sponsors. The Melbourne Greek Consulate, in particular Mrs Nikolaedou, played an essential role in promoting and facilitating this event.

Steve Kyritsis OAM, on behalf of the Australian Hellenic Memorial Foundation Committee, expressed his gratitude and extended “a big thank you to all students who participated in the competition”. He also announced that the tradition will continue in 2024, ensuring the recognition of excellence and the celebration of the Hellenic culture’s rich heritage for years to come.

“The 2023 Australian Hellenic Memorial Foundation School Competition stands as a testament to the community’s commitment to education, culture, and the fostering of young talents. It is a celebration of both academic achievement and the unity of the Australian Hellenic community,” Mr Kyritsis said.

This year’s winners were met with applause and commendation, making not only a memorable day for all involved, but a day where young Australians honour unity and peace across nations, religions, politics and race.
