Sunday 22 October, a special commemoration occurred at the Holy Church of St. John the Forerunner in Carlton, Melbourne. This event honoured the memory of St. Artemios the Great, who serves as the patron saint for the police officers.

The day’s proceedings began with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, followed by a doxology presided by Fr. Emmanuel Lykopandis, the parish priest.

Distinguished attendees included representatives from the State and Federal Police and Maria Vamvakinou, Member for Calwell, who represented the Federal Government.

Following the conclusion of the service, Inspector Andreas Markakis, APM and President of the Victorian Hellenic Police Association, expressed his gratitude to Fr. Emmanuel and the parish for their unwavering support towards Victoria Police. In closing, Fr. Emmanuel gave a blessing to all police officers and wished that St Artemios embrace and protect them.
